Fortnite OG season 5 returns with rifts, paradise palms, drift
DDM News

Epic Games is taking Fortnite players on another nostalgic ride as it launches Fortnite OG Season 5 with classic content and revamped features.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the new season will officially begin on Thursday, August 7, and will reintroduce fan-favorite locations like Paradise Palms, Lazy Links, and Viking Village, originally seen in the 2018 Worlds Collide season.
The update follows the recent “Blast Off” live event and is expected to usher in rift-themed gameplay as reality fractures once again in the Fortnite universe.
Epic Games hinted at the return of iconic characters such as Drift, this time featuring new visual upgrades alongside Shockwave Grenades that could dramatically alter the pace of matches.
According to official details, the start time for Fortnite OG Season 5 is 3:30 AM PDT / 6:30 AM EDT / 11:30 AM BST, aligning with the conclusion of Chapter 6 Season 3.
The transition will involve an estimated five-hour server downtime, during which new content will be installed and servers prepared for global play.
Players can expect a revamped Battle Pass, updated cosmetics, and possibly new emotes and skins linked to the storyline of fractured realities caused by the rocket event.
This season’s theme continues the rift narrative, suggesting that time and space have again collapsed, blending old and new content from past seasons.
Early visuals teased a reworked island layout that merges past and present, offering a mix of nostalgia and innovation.
Epic Games and Fortnite insiders have built hype through teasers and social media drops, with @JeayBR and other community figures confirming the return of several explosive gameplay mechanics.
Fortnite OG’s model of revisiting classic seasons has proven hugely popular, and Season 5 is expected to be no different, tapping into long-time fans’ desire for the ‘golden era’ of Fortnite.
A full rollout of cosmetics, weapons, POIs, and events will take place across the next few weeks, keeping the community engaged throughout the season.
For players who missed the original “Worlds Collide” timeline, this is a unique opportunity to experience a major moment in Fortnite’s history, only now with improved graphics, smoother mechanics, and a broader range of unlockables.
Fortnite continues to lead the battle royale genre with its dynamic seasonal rotations and nostalgic throwbacks, keeping players of all ages plugged in with each major release.
Fortnite OG Season 5 might be looking back, but it’s moving forward at full speed.
