The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) has pledged $5 million to the Rotary Foundation. This significant contribution will enhance Nigeria’s efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.

Specifically, this generous donation will expand and strengthen maternal and child health initiatives in high-risk local government areas.

Moreover, the funding will enhance access to critical healthcare services, ensuring safer pregnancies and deliveries.

According to a press release by Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director of Press & Public Relations, the Ministry of Information and National Orientation announced this commitment on April 23, 2025.

Notably, Sir Emeka Offor, a prominent Nigerian philanthropist and Rotary member, emphasized the importance of investing in maternal and child health.

He stated, “Helping mothers and babies survive and thrive is among the greatest investments we can make in Nigeria’s future.”

Consequently, this partnership aims to amplify Rotary’s existing programs, which have already shown positive results.

The initiative prioritizes prenatal care, skilled deliveries, community engagement, and improved health data systems.

In the past two years, healthcare facilities across four targeted regions have successfully reduced maternal deaths by 20% and neonatal fatalities by 28%. Additionally, Mark Maloney, Chair of the Rotary Foundation Trustees, sincerely appreciated SEOF’s timely support, recognizing its crucial role in advancing healthcare initiatives.

Furthermore, Rotary’s “Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria” program actively works alongside the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Through this collaboration, both organizations strive to lower maternal and infant mortality rates, ensuring better healthcare outcomes nationwide.

In fact, this initiative was originally launched by Rotary members from Nigeria and Germany, showcasing international collaboration.

Furthermore, the program actively collaborates with the Rotary Action Group for Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health (RMCH) to enhance outcomes.

In addition, it partners with prominent health associations, ensuring a united effort to achieve its objectives efficiently.

By leveraging these partnerships, the initiative ensures sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery.

Ultimately, this collaboration marks a major milestone in combating maternal and neonatal deaths. With continued support from organizations like SEOF, Nigeria can achieve lasting progress in healthcare, securing healthier futures for families nationwide.
