Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sanctioned a minor cabinet reshuffle, moving Commissioner Christopher Green from the Sports Ministry to head the Justice portfolio.
DDM gathered that the redeployment, announced on Tuesday, forms part of Fubara’s ongoing efforts to optimize his executive team for enhanced governance and service delivery.
Green, who has overseen sports development initiatives across the state, is expected to leverage his administrative experience in his new role as Commissioner for Justice.
Governor Fubara, in his approval statement, emphasized that the reshuffle aims to ensure efficiency, responsiveness, and effective leadership across key ministries.
Sources within the government noted that while the reshuffle is minor, it signals Fubara’s focus on aligning personnel with areas where their skills can deliver maximum impact for Rivers residents.
Observers have highlighted that moving Green to Justice underscores the administration’s priority on strengthening legal and institutional frameworks in the state.
The Governor also urged all commissioners to embrace collaboration, discipline, and proactive engagement with the public to achieve the state’s development agenda.
Political analysts say the move may also help consolidate governance structures ahead of strategic state initiatives planned for 2026.
While the cabinet changes did not affect other key ministries, stakeholders believe the reshuffle will encourage performance accountability among executive members.
Green himself, according to sources, has accepted the new assignment with a commitment to uphold justice, transparency, and rule of law in his oversight of the ministry.
DDM reports that citizens and civil society organizations are watching closely to assess how this reshuffle will influence service delivery, particularly in the legal and judicial sectors.
The Rivers State government has assured residents that the minor reshuffle will not disrupt ongoing programs and projects but is intended to strengthen coordination and governance efficiency.
Governor Fubara’s office further stated that such strategic personnel adjustments will be used periodically to ensure the state’s leadership remains responsive to emerging needs and developmental priorities.
