President Bola Tinubu’s late-night meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja may be a turning point in calming the state’s political tensions.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, included other prominent leaders from the state, but details of the discussions remain confidential.
However, sources indicate that Governor Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the meeting, suggesting a possible reconciliation between the two influential figures.
Reports also hint that Fubara expressed remorse to Wike, promising to avoid disrespect in the future.
This development comes amid months of intense political tension in Rivers State, fueled by disagreements between Fubara and Wike, who were once allies.
President Tinubu’s intervention is seen as a strategic effort to restore peace, stabilize governance, and prevent further escalation in the oil-rich state.
