There are plans to move cattle from the Northern states of the country to the South, by rail.

This is in order to overcome the menace of the rampaging Fulani cattle herdsmen, who has resorted to attacking rural villages on their way.

Most cases they burn their houses as well as kill and maim their victims.

The Nigeria Incentive-based Rail Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) has initiated a scheme to move cattle from the Northern state of the country to the Southern markets by rail.

This was stated by the NIRSAL Managing Director, Mr. Aliyu Abdulhameed.

Which he said should be a tribute to the vision of the President Muhammadu Buhari, who made agriculture central component of the Federal government economic response, to the steep and laying standard, following the overall fall in oil price globally, which has affected the economy of many countries worldwide.

The rail system If actualized, it will be a great relief to the people of the south, since most of the nefarious activities of the cattle herdsmen will be reduced.

Most of the criminal elements amongst them use the cattle rearing as guise to wreak havoc in unsuspecting communities.

It is reported that they rob, rape their victims throughout the community they transverse.

While speaking on the rail lifting of the cattle, the NIRSAL Managing Director said only serious agricultural projects which were bankable in terms of proven business viability, strategic economic relevance to the country and promotion of values will be attended to.

Also, that inclusive growth and equitable distribution of values will be ensured so that farmers and other players gets better reward for their efforts.
