The Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu, has released the full list of the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Secondary School, Maga, and dismissed claims that the attack targeted a Christian community.
Aliyu refuted the comment made by United States Congressman Riley Moore, who had suggested on X that the incident occurred in a Christian enclave.
The chairman called the claim misleading, insisting that all the abducted students are Muslims.
According to him, the Zuru Emirate under which Maga community falls has never experienced a religious conflict.
He urged the American lawmaker to avoid spreading unverified claims capable of heightening religious tension at a time when authorities are focused on rescuing the girls.

US Lawmaker Repeats Call for Probe, Prayers
In a post shared on Tuesday, Congressman Moore asked his followers to pray for the victims and claimed without evidence that the abduction took place in a Christian community in northern Nigeria.
He also said the Nigerian government must intensify efforts against what he described as “rampant violence.”
His post followed local reports that the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, was killed while attempting to stop the abductors from taking the girls away.
Security Response Underway
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that a combined tactical team has been deployed to comb the surrounding forest in search of the abducted students.
The police said the operation remains ongoing.
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the attack and extended condolences to the families of those affected.
He also postponed his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, directing Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi on his behalf to meet with affected families and state officials.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents targeting educational institutions in parts of northern Nigeria, raising renewed concerns over school safety and regional security.
