FULL LIST: Nigeria/Ghana, Cameroon/Algeria, others to fight for 5 Qatar 2022 slots

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face off with the Black Stars of Ghana for the final play-off for the Qatar 2022 World Cup slot.

The draw took place in Cameroon where the AFCON 2021 is holding

Eight other countries will also fight for the four other slots.

According to the draws published by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) on its website, Egypt will take on Senegal, while Cameroon will slug it out with Algeria.

DR Congo will clash with Morocco, and Mali will lock horns with Tunisia

Five winner among the eight African contenders will represent the continent in the FIFA World Cup to be played in Qatar later this year.

They knew the fate of their upcoming opponents when the draw for the Third and Final Round of the African Qualifiers was held on Saturday.

The draw held in Douala, Cameroon was conducted by CAF Competitions Director Samson Adamu, assisted by CAF legends El Hadji Diouf and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Following are the encounters, set for next March:

  • Egypt versus Senegal
  • Cameroon versus Algeria
  • DR Congo versus Morocco
  • Mali versus Tunisia
  • Ghana versus Nigeria

The first leg will be on the first mentioned side.

In the meantime, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will, on Sunday, January 23, face Tunisia in the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana, also favourites for the championship have crashed out with just one point from their group, as well as defending champions, Algeria.

On Monday, January 24, it will be Guinea versus Gambia, and later hosts Cameroon will take on Comoros.

Senegal will meet Cape Verde, while Morocco will rub shoulders with Malawi on January 25.
