#Gateway Games: Rofiat Abdulazeez triumphs with gold in women’s squash singles festival

In a thrilling showcase of talent and determination, Rofiat Abdulazeez, Nigeria’s reigning number one female squash player, claimed the gold medal for Kwara at the ongoing Gateway Games in Abeokuta. In a fiercely contested final on Friday, Rofiat faced her fellow Kwaran, Blessing Isaac, in an all-Kwara showdown that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Rofiat dominated the match from the start, defeating Blessing 11-6 in the first set and 11-7 in the second. Despite Blessing’s spirited efforts, she was unable to keep up in the third set, which Rofiat easily clinched, sealing her victory and the gold medal.

This impressive win further boosts Kwara’s medal tally, bringing their total to seven — including two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. The success of Abdulazeez underscores her current dominance in Nigerian squash andSolidifies her status as a key athlete to watch in future tournaments.
