Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed 558 persons

Israel has carried out airstrikes on dozens of Hamas targets in Gaza over the past 24 hours, it said on Friday, in attacks that Palestinian health authorities said had killed more than 150 people in two days.

This comes as the Jewish nation continues its war on Hamas while still negotiating for a ceasefire and hostage release with the terror group.

As talks resume in Qatar, senior Hamas official Basem Naim said the Palestinian group is serious about a ceasefire deal, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and returning the enclave’s population to their homes.

Also, Israel’s war on Hamas has resulted in the near-total destruction of the health sector.

The destruction of the health system in Northern Gaza will be total if Israel is permitted to evacuate the last two remaining operational medical centres, Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said.

In a statement on social media, the group said that if the Indonesian Hospital and al-Awda Hospital are forced to close by Israel’s military, “there will be no medical centres left in northern Gaza”.

“Israel is persistently destroying civilian infrastructure across the region and forcibly displacing the entire Palestinian population in violation of international law,” PHRI said.

“We call on all international actors to intervene immediately and halt Israel’s ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza,” it added.

UN human rights chief, Volker Turk said the world body has recorded 136 Israeli attacks on 27 health facilities in Gaza, causing “significant death and destruction”.

Also, Human Rights group, Amnesty International said Israel’s detention of Kamal Adwan Hospital director Dr Hussam Abu Safia is emblematic of the “genocidal intent” in Israel’s broader attempts to “annihilate” Gaza’s healthcare sector.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 45,658 Palestinians and wounded 108,583 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 were taken captive.
