(DDM) – The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for the upcoming November 8 Anambra election, Chief Dr George Moghalu (Ohamadike), has called on Ndi Anambra to rise as active citizens and take full responsibility for the kind of leadership they desire.

In a statement posted on his official X handle, Moghalu lamented that the reason the people’s choice often fails to emerge in elections is because citizens expect others to act on their behalf while they remain passive.

He urged the people of Anambra to reject political apathy and take ownership of their civic duties by voting consciously for progress and development.

According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Moghalu wrote: “The reason why the people’s choice hardly emerge is because everyone else is expecting everyone else to magically take up their responsibility as ACTIVE CITIZENS.

At the end of the day, no one shows up as ACTIVE CITIZENS.”

The former federal agency boss and seasoned politician added that the time has come for Ndi Anambra to stop complaining from the sidelines and instead participate fully in shaping the future of the state.

He stressed that active citizenship goes beyond social media commentary and includes voting, community involvement, and holding leaders accountable.

Moghalu further appealed to Anambra voters to consider his candidacy as a credible alternative to the current administration, promising to restore transparency, competence, and purposeful leadership to the state.

He declared: “Typically, if you aren’t satisfied with the current state of governance in our beloved state, give I, Chief Dr George Moghalu, a chance. Aga m eme ka Anambra di mma ozo (I will make Anambra better again). Vote LP.”

The Labour Party candidate’s message has resonated widely among citizens, particularly young voters and professionals, who see his words as a reminder that democracy thrives only when citizens actively engage in the process.

Political analysts note that Moghalu’s recent statements reflect his strategy of blending grassroots mobilization with civic enlightenment, aiming to turn passive supporters into active participants ahead of the governorship polls.

Observers also highlight that Moghalu’s slogan, “Anambra ga adi mma ozo”, has evolved beyond a campaign phrase into a movement of hope for good governance, youth empowerment, and community-driven progress in Anambra State.

As campaigns intensify, Moghalu continues to position himself as a people-centered candidate, one who believes that with unity, participation, and responsible leadership, Anambra can truly become a model of excellence and accountability in Nigeria’s democracy.
