Ghana’s new president Nana Akufo-Addo sworn in

Ghana’s new President Nana Akufo-Addo was sworn in as President of Ghana on Saturday.

Mr Akufo-Ado during his swearing in as President of Ghana made a solemn promise to protect the public purse and insist on the value of money on all projects.

Nana Akufo Addo claimed that his business of leadership is to serve and Ghanaians should not expect any less from him.

Quoting one of his mentors Kofi Abrefia Busia, a former president, President Nana Akufo-Addo charged all to regard politics as an avenue of service to their fellow human beings.

‘‘Our success or failure should be judged by the quality of knowledge of the ordinary man and the standard of living he enjoys”Akufo-Addo who beat then incumbent John Mahama in last months presidential election said.

Earlier, Chief Justice Theodora Wood sworn- in Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bewumia who also took the oath of allegiance and secrecy waving to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters of the New Patriotic Party who thronged the Black Star Square.

Several heads of state from around Africa witnessed the historic handover from outgoing leader Mahama to Akufo-Addo.

They included Presidents Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire.
