Girlfriend Stabs Boyfriend to Death in Ondo

Tragedy unfolded in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State when Augustina Mowari stabbed her 25-year-old boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, during a violent argument over alleged infidelity.
According to reports, the incident happened over the weekend inside a single-room apartment where the couple lived.
Residents confirmed that the lovers constantly argued about cheating and trust issues. According to those familiar with their relationship, the tension had built up over time.
A witness who spoke to Leadership said the final altercation turned deadly.
“Augustina accused Michael of seeing another woman. They started shouting at each other. Suddenly, she picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the leg,” the source explained.
Michael ran to a nearby hospital where doctors treated the wound and gave him medication. He returned home after the treatment. However, his condition worsened.
“His leg began to swell badly after he got home,” the witness added. “On Sunday night, they rushed him back to the hospital. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he didn’t survive.”
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and arrested Augustina immediately after the report.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, spoke to reporters about the situation.
“The two of them argued. She stabbed him with scissors. He later died at the hospital,” Ayanlade said.
Police officers have started investigating the case and plan to charge Augustina to court once they conclude their findings.
This case adds to the rising number of domestic violence incidents across Nigeria.
Many in the Okitipupa community reacted with shock, calling the event tragic and unnecessary.
Some urged young couples to walk away from toxic relationships instead of allowing issues to escalate.
The police advised the public to report violent behavior early. They also warned that unchecked domestic disputes often lead to deadly consequences.
Michael’s death has left his family and community heartbroken, while his alleged killer faces the full weight of the law.
