A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adamu Aliyu, has appealed to Nigerians to forgive the party’s shortcomings and grant it another opportunity to improve its performance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aliyu made the appeal during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, where he acknowledged that the ruling party had not fully met public expectations.
“I beg Nigerians to forgive some of our shortcomings. Give us another opportunity to do better,” he said.
He admitted that while the party had made several promises, it is still working to deliver on them. He also called for constructive criticism from opposition parties, stressing that collaboration is necessary to move the country forward.
Aliyu further urged citizens to remain hopeful and maintain confidence in the government, assuring that efforts would be made to promote equity, justice, and fairness.
His comments come amid ongoing security concerns across parts of the country, where attacks by non-state actors have led to loss of lives and displacement of many communities.
