The Osun State Park Management System (OSTMS), has accused police authorities in the state of shooting their chairman while in their custody.
Mr Mukaila Popoola, the OSTMS State Secretary, said in a statement that Comrade Iyanda, who was detained over domestic-related issues was shot under unclear circumstances while in detention
The organization expressed shock and concern over the development, urging the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
“We demand transparency and accountability in uncovering the events that led to this unfortunate incident,” the statement read.
As of now, the condition of Comrade Iyanda and the details surrounding the shooting remain uncertain, raising serious questions about the safety and security of individuals in police custody.
The OSTMS has called for justice and urged the relevant authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“Our chairman was shot in police custody under circumstances that call for thorough investigations,” the statement read.
The OSTMS urged its members to remain calm and refrain from any retaliatory actions.
“We call on our members not to take laws into their hands. We must maintain peace across the parks while we take the matter up with the appropriate authorities,” Popoola added.
