Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling the issue of drug abuse in the state.
The governor made this known while receiving the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), in his office.
Governor Uzodinma expressed his administration’s dedication to supporting the NDLEA in its efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
He noted that the issue of drug abuse is a serious one that requires a collective effort to address.
The governor assured the NDLEA chairman of his administration’s continued support and collaboration in the fight against drug abuse.
He commended the NDLEA for its efforts in sensitizing the public on the dangers of drug abuse and for its successes in apprehending drug traffickers.
The governor emphasized the need for continued sensitization and awareness campaigns to educate the public, especially the youth, on the dangers of drug abuse.
He noted that this would help to prevent the scourge of drug abuse and its attendant consequences.
Governor Uzodinma pledged to provide the necessary support to the NDLEA to enable the agency to effectively carry out its mandate.
He assured the NDLEA chairman that his administration would work closely with the agency to ensure that Imo State is free from the menace of drug abuse.
Governor Uzodinma’s commitment to tackling the issue of drug abuse in Imo State is a welcome development.
The governor’s administration has shown a strong resolve to address the issue, and the collaboration with the NDLEA is a step in the right direction.
