Governor Adeleke to unveil Osogbo township stadium remodeling

The Osun State Government announced that Governor Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke will officially launch the remodeling of Osogbo Township Stadium.

This event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Furthermore, the ceremony will occur at the stadium complex, marking the beginning of a transformative project for Osogbo.

This initiative aims to position Osogbo as a leading hub for sports within Nigeria, enhancing its reputation.

Additionally, Governor Adeleke will oversee the groundbreaking event, accompanied by his deputy and Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi.

This reflects his administration’s strong commitment to sports development and promoting athletic excellence across the state.

Moreover, Mr. Layi Adesiyan, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, and Mr. Rotimi Dunmoye, General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, will also participate.

They revealed that the event will feature a special cash award presentation for athletes who have excelled in competitions and brought pride to Osun State.

The remodeling project aligns with Governor Adeleke’s broader vision for enhancing sports infrastructure and opportunities in Osun State.

Approved in late 2024, the multi-purpose stadium has already undergone significant renovations, with full completion anticipated by mid-2026.

Once completed, the stadium will showcase state-of-the-art facilities, including two artificial turf fields and one grass pitch.

Furthermore, it will feature an artificial hockey pitch, a multipurpose indoor sports hall, and two tartan tracks.

Additionally, there will be a squash court and a swimming pool to enhance athletic training and performance.

In addition to these facilities, the upgraded complex will include hostels and a hotel to accommodate athletes and visitors.

Moreover, covered seating will be available for the main bowl pitch, alongside a shopping complex intended to boost local economic activities.

These enhancements aim to provide world-class amenities, fostering economic and social growth in Osun State.

Consequently, the project seeks to attract athletes, sports enthusiasts, and businesses from across Nigeria, enriching the local community.

The flag-off event is set to draw key stakeholders in the sports industry.

Notably, attendees will include Cabinet Members and Members of the Osun State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun.

The Osun State Sports Council encourages all sports lovers, athletes, and residents to celebrate this milestone development.
