Barely 24 hours after the Nigeria labour Congress [NLC] and the Nigeria Union of Teachers [NUT] staged a protests in Kaduna over the proposed sack of 21,000 teachers, the governor of the state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has taken the fight to the public domain.
Governor El-Rufai, on Thursday, decided to involve the masses to peruse and evaluate the performance of his teachers and be the judge, whether they should be sacked or allowed to remain.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote:
“We are putting these out in the court of public opinion for Nigerians to make their verdict. Here are some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State.”
He then went ahead and posted the competency test scripts of one of the teachers on his Twitter handle for all, as follows:
Continuing, he tweeted:
“Some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State. Be the judge.”
“Here are some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State. Should these teachers be allowed to teach our kids?”
“Here are some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State. These teachers are meant to teach pupils Maths and English too.”
“Here are some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State. Would you allow someone like this teach your child?”
“Here are some of the primary 4 competency test scripts conducted for primary school teachers in Kaduna State. The future of our children must never be politicised.”
“Many times, the decisions we take offer us no political advantages in a polity long accustomed to the false allure of populism. But we do what is necessary, not minding the direct impact on us…”
He also posted several other photos of results of other teachers whom he has insisted xnot to allow to remain in office.
The governor, despite criticisms, therefore, vowed never to relent in his bid to sanitise the educational sector of his state no matter how may teachers or individuals are affected.
