Grassroots APC members cry foul, accuse leaders of neglect in Rivers

(DDM) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Wanikade ward, Yala North Ukelle, Cross River State, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots level.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the reaffirmation took place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, during a gathering at the residence of the ward chairman, Mr. Egede Monday Okoko.

The event was described as a critical step toward ensuring the continued growth and sustainability of the party in the region.

Prominent party stakeholders were in attendance, including Hon. Martha Achadu, the councillor representing Wanikade ward in the Yala North Legislative Council.

Other loyal party members and supporters also participated in the event, pledging to consolidate party unity and mobilise grassroots support.

During the discussions, several APC loyalists expressed grievances over what they described as neglect and relegation within the party structure.

They lamented that despite their contributions, recognition and inclusion in party affairs had been limited.

Responding to these concerns, Councillor Martha Achadu reassured ward residents and constituents of her ongoing efforts to push for development in the community.

She noted that talks were underway with relevant authorities to ensure that Wanikade ward benefits from both local and state government initiatives.

Achadu encouraged party faithful to remain steadfast, urging them to continue supporting the APC-led administration at all levels.

She stressed that unity and persistence were vital for attracting more government projects to the ward.

New members were also officially admitted into the APC during the meeting.

This symbolic admission was seen as part of a broader effort to expand the party’s base in Yala North.

Many loyalists responded positively to the councillor’s reassurances, pledging renewed commitment to her leadership.
