Guardiola offloads Hart, Mangala, Bony, ors from City
England’s first choice goalkeeper, Joe Hart has completed a season-long loan deal to join Torino in the Serie A league, Italy.
The former No.1 goalkeeper for Manchester City is said to have falling out of favour with the arrival of new manager Pep Guardiola.
Hart found himself at the second spot after Willy Caballero for the club’s opening matches of the 2016-17.
His woes compounded after the arrival of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona, which seemingly dropped him to third choice.
The 29-year-old confirmed the loan move on transfer deadline day.
Hart will have the opportunity to prove himself worth after England’s bad outing at Euro 2016.
Also on the loan ship is Eliaquim Mangala who today joined Spanish club Valencia on a loan deal until the end of the 2016/17 season.
After impressing for both Standard Liege and Porto, Mangala signed for the Blues as 23-year-old in August 2014.
The French centre-back made an impressive start to life at the club with a dominant debut performance against Chelsea’s Diego Costa in September 2014.
He competed with Martin Demichelis to partner captain Vincent Kompany for much of the early period of the season.
That was until the Belgian’s injuries gave Mangala and Demichelis the opportunity to play together.
The Blues didn’t retain their Premier League title, finishing second behind Chelsea, but Mangala’s form made him a regular in the France squad.
He continued to feature in Manuel Pellegrini’s side throughout the 2015/16 season and played the full 180 minutes as City beat Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
He was again in his national squad as France made it to the final of their own European Championships this summer but wasn’t called upon from the bench throughout.
Yet to make an appearance in the 2016/17 season, Mangala will now spend the rest of the campaign at the Mestalla.
In another loan transfer deal, Wilfried Bony has joined Stoke City on loan until the end of the 2016/17 season.
After joining the Blues from Swansea in January 2015, Bony’s debut for the club was delayed by Ivory Coast’s successful African Cup of Nations campaign.
Wilfried made his debut as a late substitute in City’s 5-0 home victory over Newcastle United towards the end of February.
He was called upon three days later to make an impact in City’s Champions League home tie with Barcelona when his team were 2-0 down.
It worked as the striker’s presence helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side to pull a goal back and give themselves a chance heading to the Nou Camp.
Although City lost in Spain, Bony ended the season showing signs of form with his first goal coming in a 3-0 defeat of West Brom.
The 27-year-old scored his first goals of the 2015/16 campaign with a brace in a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.
Bony struggled to make an impact throughout the rest of the season as City favoured a one-striker formation, with Sergio Aguero leading the line.
Another loanee is Samir Nasri who has also joined Sevilla on a season-long loan.
Since joining City in 2011, the French midfielder has been integral in one of the most trophy-laden periods in the club’s history.
The 29-year-old has lifted two Premier League titles, a League Cup and a Community Shield in his time since completing his switch from Arsenal.
He was part of a midfield that included David Silva, Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry throughout the historic 2011/12 campaign.
Nasri played a crucial role throughout the campaign, making 45 appearances and scoring six goals.
Renowned for his close control and technical ability in the final third, Nasri’s star shone brightest in the 2012 and 2014 title-winning seasons.
