Guinness World Book of Records: UNILORIN student sets new record in Mathematics

Kazeem Sanusi, a final-year Mathematics student at the University of Ilorin.

Kazeem Sanusi, a final-year Mathematics student at the University of Ilorin, has made history on Tuesday April 14, 2025.

According to reports, Sanusi delivered the longest mathematics lesson ever recorded.

He lectured for 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds without stopping, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 26 hours.

The feat took place on the university campus in Ilorin.

The Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, April 14, 2025.

He stated that Guinness World Record representatives witnessed the marathon lecture.

Sanusi’s lesson drew applause from students, lecturers, and university officials.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), led the audience at the venue.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Fawole, was also in attendance.

Registrar Mr. Mansur Alfanla and Dean of Physical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Baba, witnessed the event.

Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Akanmu, and the Student Union President, Victor Agezeh, also attended.

The hall was filled with cheers as Sanusi broke the record.

He remained focused throughout the long academic session.

His effort showcased both resilience and a passion for mathematics.

Sanusi now awaits official confirmation from Guinness World Records.

The lecture aimed to inspire students and promote mathematical excellence.
