Gunmen have abducted Nasarawa Permanent Secretary Yusuf Musa in a daring midnight attack on his Lafia residence.

According to the Nasarawa State Police, the Nasarawa Permanent Secretary was abducted around 3:05 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The attackers stormed his home in Ungwan Nungu, Lafia, while he was asleep.

Police officers discovered the abduction after noticing a suspiciously parked Peugeot pick-up van with open doors. They also found the victim’s house gate left ajar.

A swift check confirmed that the Nasarawa Permanent Secretary was abducted, and his GMC vehicle, bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA, was missing.

Immediately, Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, launched a statewide manhunt.

He ordered all police divisions in Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko to begin surveillance on major exit routes.

Officers also deployed tactical teams to track down those who abducted the Nasarawa Permanent Secretary.

Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel assured the public that security forces would rescue the Nasarawa Permanent Secretary and arrest the suspects.

He urged residents to remain calm and report any useful information.

This incident marks a serious escalation in targeted kidnappings of high-profile individuals in the region.

Barrister Yusuf Musa, before becoming Nasarawa Permanent Secretary, served as General Manager of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS). He is widely known for his service to the state.

Although no group has claimed responsibility, many suspect organized criminal gangs operating in the North Central region.

The bold attack has left residents worried about safety, especially for public officials.

Security experts say the trend of public servants being abducted is disturbing. They have called on the state government to increase protection around top officials.
