Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa commissioner for information and tourism

Nasarawa Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Hon Lawal Mohammed has been kidnapped.

The commissioner was kidnapped around 8pm on Monday in his residence in Nasarawa Eggon local government area.

The commissioner, who was appointed in December 2021 by Governor Abdullahi Sule, is an ally of the APC Senatorial candidate for Nasarawa north Senatorial district, Barr Danladi Envuluaza.

He comes to work in Lafia from Nasarawa Eggon local government everyday and was a primary school teacher in Nasarawa Eggon local government before his appointment.

His abductors were said to have trailed him from Lafia after closing from work and kidnapped him in front of his gate in Nasarawa Eggon.

The commissioner has not been attached a police orderly or an official car since his appointment, leaving him to use a private car.

Nasarawa Police spokesman Ramhan Nansel said he was yet to receive official report of the incident when contacted.
