Two brothers were abducted by gunmen on Wednesday night while working on their cassava farm in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack happened in the Bokungi Zambufu community, Lafiagi.
Witnesses said four armed men stormed the farm and opened fire before whisking the victims away to an unknown location.
A local source explained that no ransom demand had been made yet.
However, the source added that security operatives later paraded two suspects, though it remained unclear if they were linked to the abduction.
The incident has heightened fear in Kwara, especially in rural areas.
Residents expressed worry over rising insecurity, despite recent military raids in parts of the state.
In response, the Kwara State Government urged residents in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun LGAs to remain vigilant.
Officials advised people to reduce unnecessary night movements and report suspicious activities.
Security forces have also intensified operations against kidnappers across border towns between Kwara and Kogi States.
Military patrols were sighted in several communities on Thursday, as authorities promised stronger action to dismantle criminal hideouts.
The kidnapping adds to recent violent incidents in Kwara.
Only weeks ago, armed men attacked worshippers in another community, sparking fresh calls for urgent government intervention.
Residents now demand stronger intelligence gathering, better police presence, and tougher action against kidnappers who continue to target rural farmers.
