In Plateau State, two teenage herders were killed and three cattle slaughtered by unknown gunmen, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) reported.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Jol village, Riyom Local Government Area. Victims were identified as Muhammad Sani and Furuk Bilyaminu, though Bilyaminu’s body was still missing at the time of the report.
MACBAN, through its Plateau State chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, described the attack as “senseless” and part of a series of targeted assaults on herders in the state.
The association confirmed that the incident has been reported to security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Police, and Operation Safe Haven, and called for urgent government action to protect herders and their livestock.
Babayo stated, “We will not be provoked, but we demand urgent action from the state and federal governments to protect our people and livestock.”
