Gwandu Emir wants children vaccinated before school enrolment

Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, Emir of Gwandu, on Saturday called on Kebbi State Ministry of Health to create more awareness on importance of vaccinating children before enrolling them in schools.

He made the call at a Special Weekly Prayer Session held at the Abdullahi Fodio palace in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

The paramount ruler said the call became imperative in view of the fact that many parents did not know the importance of the vaccine.

He, however, commended the ministry of health and other donor agencies for their efforts and support in addressing health challenges across the state.

Earlier, the Malam Yusuf Sawwa, the Coordinator, Primary Healthcare Service, said the essence of the vaccination exercise was to ensure that each and every child gets vaccinated before enrolling into school.

He appealed to parents to always support the exercise by presenting their children for the routine immunisation exercise to facilitate healthy growing children across the state and the nation at large.
