Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers stormed the NNPC Estate in Karmo/Life Camp, Abuja, on Thursday, triggering heavy shooting.
The incident occurred around 3:48 a.m. when the armed hoodlums overpowered security guards on duty and stole a black Toyota Avalon car with registration number BWR-946 DV from a resident entering the compound.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command quickly responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers in a gun duel.
According to security analyst Zagozola Makama’s report, the police pursued the suspects toward Giri Airport Road, near the Civil Defence Headquarters, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The robbers eventually abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled into a nearby bush.
Items recovered include, Toyota Avalon, firearm, locally fabricated firearm and taser and machete
The police are currently investigating the incident.
This recent attack highlights concerns about security in Abuja, where similar incidents have occurred in the past.
In May, gunmen invaded Efab Global Estate in the Idu Industrial Area, injuring security guards and robbing residents of valuables.
The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
