Herbalist rapes 15 years old girl in Anambra State

Kogi State middle aged herbalist - Emeka Obu and resident in Nimo, Anambra State has been arrested by police for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl

A Kogi State born middle aged herbalist who gave his name as Emeka Obu and resident in Nimo, Anambra State has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 15-year old girl (names withheld) of Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state. 

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, the matter was still being investigated by the Enugwu-Ukwu Police Division and would be charged to court immediately the investigation was concluded.

The victim’s counsel, Mr Afam Akonanya raised a petition titled “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, Attempted Murder by Stifling, Seizure of Torn Panties (underwear) Soaked in Blood, Threatening Violence and Threat to Life Perpetrated by Emeka Obu”.

Mr. Akonanya, writing the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Sam Okaula, urged immediate action against the culprit.

The petition was dated 29th September.

Akonanya asked the police , among other things, to “treat the matter with keen interest, conduct discreet investigation into same and cause gavel of justice to hit appropriately”.

Father of the victim, Chief Ifemesi in an interview said that “the 52-year-old native doctor visited the victim’s house in the absence of anybody on Sept 13, 2016 silenced her by covering her mouth, tore her panties and had a carnal knowledge of her.

“When blood started oozing out, the culprit used the torn panties to clean it up and left with the pant”.

The family reported the matter to the Enugwu-Ukwu Police Station and they arrested the culprit. 

According to him, “Sometime in August this year, I borrowed N20, 000 from my friend, Emeka Obu, and I promised that I would pay him back very soon. 

“So, on Sunday, September 11, I gave the money to my wife to give to him because I was not always around.

“When my wife was leaving the house on Tuesday, September 13, she left the money with our daughter, Chinaza, so that when Emeka would come, she would give it to him.

“When Emeka came for the money, my daughter gave it to him. 

“When she was about leaving the parlour to continue her house chores, Emeka grabbed her, overpowered her, and had carnal knowledge of the small girl”.
