The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has said that the Lagos Light Rail Project will be a significant milestone in the rapid development the state has experienced in sixteen years.

The party lauded the Ambode administration for continuing the gigantic project in deference to the rich governance antecedents that had been in the state since the dawn of democratic governance in 1999.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe, the party said it is very heartening to see the seriousness the Ambode administration has paid to the project which will positively impact on mass transportation in the Lagos mega city when it becomes operational.

The party says that the commencement of the project will vindicate the progressive commitment of the APC government in the state to take Lagos to the very height of development as it had been doing for the past 16 years.

“We are elated by the news from the Governor that the gigantic Lagos State Light Rail Project that promises to revolutionalise mass transportation in Lagos will commence operation in December.

“We see this as the clear justification of the rare vision and foresight that has been brought to bear on the governance of a complex state like Lagos for the part sixteen years.

“We see the Lagos Light Rail project as a reward for vision and good governance and we salute Governor Ambode for the manner he is speedily achieving this huge project started by his predecessors as an ambitious way of dealing with the huge challenges that come with the role of Lagos as the driver to Nigeria’s economic progress.

“The salutary way the project is being executed points to the rich leadership potentials in our great party that believes that Nigeria can progress if rightly governed.

“We share the joys of millions of Lagosians that at long last, a project with the capacity to radically alter the increasingly demanding challenge of public transportation in Nigeria’s mega city is about to commence operation and we cannot adequately express the relief Lagosians feel by that development.

“Lagos APC wants to assure Lagosians that even in the midst of the economic woes facing the country, the state is ever ready and competent to continue playing the role of an absorber to teeming Nigerians seeking to escape the impacts of shrinking oil-based economy.

“We are proud to say that the Light Rail project is a credible proof that the APC is turning Lagos to Nigerian big melting point as the gloomy economic prospects continue in the face of the crash in oil revenues.”
