House Of Reps Member, Elijah Oluwatayo Dies In Abuja

The Member representing the people of Ifako-Ijaiye of Lagos State at the House of Representative died in Abuja today.

His name is Elijah Adewale. 

Member of the House of Representatives representing the Ifako Ijaye Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Elijah Adewale Oluwatayo is dead.

The lawmaker died in Abuja early this morning, according to TVC News correspondent Joke Adisa.

Oluwatayo was a medical doctor before joining politics.

The deceased, whose profile read that he was born in 1970, represented Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency of Lagos State. 

He was the Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area between 2004 and 2007 before serving as a Special Adviser on Education to the Lagos State Governor from 2009 to 2011.

He was last seen at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

 

In a condolence message, the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, expressed shock over the death of the lawmaker.

“The late Hon. Elijah died when his services to the nation were most needed”, he wrote.

“We mourn our fallen colleague as one who gave his best in service to God and humanity.

“He was a committed and hard-working member, who championed the cause of his people.

“Our hearts go out to his immediate family, the people of Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency and Lagos State over this great loss.

“I pray God Almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will surely miss him in the Green Chamber,” the message, which was signed by Dogara’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, read.
