Yemen’s Houthi movement has officially entered the ongoing Iran war, announcing it has launched ballistic missiles at Israel and will continue attacks until hostilities against Iran and its allies cease.
The group said its actions are aimed at pressuring an end to strikes on Iran and affiliated groups, including Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The development marks a significant escalation in the conflict, which has now stretched for about a month and expanded beyond its original fronts.
The entry of the Houthis who control large parts of Yemen adds another regional dimension to a war already involving multiple state and non-state actors.
The conflict has triggered widespread instability across the Middle East, disrupting global energy markets and contributing to rising economic uncertainty. Thousands of people are reported to have been killed since fighting began.
Analysts say the Houthis’ involvement could further complicate efforts to contain the war, particularly given their history of targeting regional adversaries with missiles and drones.
Their statement underscores growing coordination among groups aligned with Iran, raising concerns that the conflict could widen even further if diplomatic efforts fail.
