The former vice-president of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Abioye, has shared a testimony of how his wife, Mary, was healed after being diagnosed with HIV in 2019.
The cleric made this revelation during a Sunday service, a moment that has since gone viral across social media platforms. A short video clip captured Abioye recounting the experience in detail before his congregation.
He said this diagnosis came right in the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Abioye explained that when doctors gave his wife an HIV-positive diagnosis, he refused to accept such. Instantly, he had declared, “No, not in this body,” maintaining that divine promises made it impossible for sickness to dwell in her.
“I told them, ‘Go and check again,’” Abioye recalled. “They ran the test, and the results came back negative. Healing is not for gentlemen you don’t nurse sickness to leave, you fight it to go.”
He explained that his faith was anchored on a Bible verse that says, “The prince of this world came and found nothing in me.” The bishop said the declaration gave him spiritual confidence to challenge the medical report.
Abioye used the testimony to rally believers to confront all manner of sicknesses with bold faith rather than fear. He described divine healing as an act of “spiritual warfare,” not mere wishful thinking.
In 2024, Oyedepo voluntarily retired as vice-president of Living Faith Church, aka Winners’ Chapel, due to a leadership policy that stated senior church officials had to retire at age 55.
After his retirement, he started a new ministry called Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, also known as Conquerors Global Assembly, where he still preaches on faith, healing, and victory.
His testimony soon went viral, with many describing his account as a proof of faith’s power against medical impossibilities. Others have called for balanced discussions about faith, science, and the power of prayer in health crises.
Still, Bishop Abioye insists that his wife’s case is nothing short of divine healing, a moment which reinforced his conviction that faith can rewrite any diagnosis.
