ENUGU, NIGERIA — House of Representatives candidate for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress, Maduegbunam Nelson Chinedu, has pledged to make regular constituency engagement the cornerstone of his representation if elected to the National Assembly.
In a policy statement released by his campaign organization, the ADC candidate emphasized that effective representation begins with listening to the people, and promised to prioritize town hall meetings, community consultations, and accessible communication channels through which constituents can raise concerns, share ideas, and make their voices heard.
“I believe effective representation begins with listening to the people,” Chinedu stated. “If given the opportunity to represent Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, I will ensure that regular engagement with constituents remains at the heart of my representation.”
The candidate outlined a clear policy framework that would see the needs of farmers, traders, youths, women, traditional institutions, professionals, and community leaders reflected in the issues he takes to the National Assembly and in the federal interventions he advocates for the constituency.
Chinedu stressed that representation must not be limited to Abuja, arguing that a true representative must remain connected to the people, understand their challenges, and regularly return to listen and account for his stewardship. “My commitment is simple and firm: I will listen more, engage regularly, and ensure that the voices of Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani remain central to my representation,” he declared.
The candidate’s pledge comes amid growing voter dissatisfaction with representatives who are rarely seen in their constituencies and who fail to account for their performance. By placing regular engagement at the centre of his campaign, Chinedu is positioning himself as a responsive and accountable alternative.
As the 2027 elections approach, voters in Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani will have the opportunity to assess whether Chinedu’s commitment to grassroots engagement translates into meaningful representation.
