The Nigeria Police Force has tightened security as the gang war which started in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday has reportedly claimed more lives as at Friday morning.

Some youths from Inalende had, together with their counterparts from Abebi, allegedly joined forces to kill two people from Oopo area.

A gang in Oopo, which suffered losses during the Thursday attack, had reportedly vowed revenge their members’ death.

City Round correspondent gathered that bloody clashes resumed between late Thursday night and early Friday morning. More people were said to have been killed before daybreak.

There were conflicting casualty figures on Friday. While some claimed that six more people were killed, others stated that seven persons died and another claimed that 11 persons lost their lives to the attack.

The National President of Soludero Hunters, Nureni Ajijolaanobi, told correspondent that the government needed to empower hunters to do more.

He said some hoodlums at Oja Igbo area had threatened to attack him and members of his family, urging the security agent to make the area safe for residents.

He said, “If they attack me or any member of my family, there will be a serious crisis. I am doing my best to ensure that the town is safe and if they attack me in the process, I will not fold my hands. The police should act fast before their action leads to a serious crisis.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Adewale Osifeso, told our correspondent that more policemen had already been deployed in the crisis area, noting that investigation would reveal the number of casualties.
