Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has downplayed his recent loss at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

He made the statement during an appearance on the podcast “Curiosity Made Me Ask,” hosted by Isbae U, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

Chatta was nominated for Best Lead Actor at the 11th AMVCA for his role in House of GAA.

However, he lost the award to Femi Adebayo, who won for his role in the movie Seven Doors.

When asked about the outcome, Chatta expressed no disappointment or regret over not winning the prestigious award.

Isbae U jokingly said, “Pray that you win AMVCA too,” after asking if he felt underrated in his profession.

Chatta responded bluntly, saying, “I’m not interested,” indicating his lack of concern about winning the award.

His statement has since sparked reactions on social media, with fans debating the importance of awards in Nollywood.

Ibrahim Chatta was born on October 13, 1970, in Bachita, Edu Local Government Area, Kwara State.

He began acting at a young age and has spent over three decades building a successful career in Nollywood.

Chatta is widely known for his roles in Yoruba-language films and his deep, emotional performances.

He is also a musician and has contributed soundtracks and songs to various Nigerian films and albums.

Despite his vast talent and contributions, Chatta has often been overlooked by major award platforms in Nigeria.

This history of snubs has led to ongoing debates about fairness and recognition within the Nollywood award industry.

However, Chatta appears undisturbed, insisting that he acts for passion, not for public recognition or trophies.

He said, “My joy comes from telling stories that connect with people,” reinforcing his love for the craft.

He added, “If that’s not enough to earn an award, then so be it,” showing peace with the outcome.

The 11th AMVCA was held on Saturday night in Lagos and attracted major players in African entertainment.

While it celebrated many talents, some voices still called attention to overlooked veterans like Ibrahim Chatta.

Fans have taken to social media to praise him, calling him a legend regardless of awards or recognition.

One fan wrote, “Ibrahim Chatta is a legend. He doesn’t need a trophy to prove that.”

Another added, “Awards don’t define greatness. His work speaks louder than any award ever could.”

Chatta’s calm and confident stance is being hailed as a mark of maturity in a fame-driven industry.

His legacy, built on skill, discipline, and consistency, remains intact despite the lack of AMVCA recognition.

For many, Chatta proves that impact and excellence matter more than trophies or public applause.
