The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has received a petition from Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, against Farouk Ahmed, CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The petition alleged that Ahmed spent over $7 million of public funds on his four children’s education in elite Swiss schools, with fees paid upfront for six years, without evidence of lawful income sources.
Dangote claims this constitutes embezzlement, diversion of funds, and abuse of office, and has urged the ICPC to investigate and prosecute Ahmed if found culpable.
The ICPC has confirmed receipt of the petition and promised to subject it to due investigation.
The move intensifies an ongoing public dispute between Dangote’s refinery operations and the NMDPRA, Nigeria’s petroleum sector regulatory body.
