Ifeanyi Ubah, Ebubechukwuzo, where are you? Please rise!

I still hope Distinguished Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah wakes up, because he has no copy any other place in the world.

The past 24 hours have left my heart deeply wounded, broken and dripping blood and I still wait for another call from London to tell me that this is a prank on ndi Nnewi, a very big prank.

It was up to 72 hours someone sent me a photo of you and I taken at a funeral in Nnewichi and jocularly said: “Ikedoji you are our representative stop bowing too low, before anybody”.

After telling him the story behind the bow, he replied: “Ikedoji you are supposed to even prostrate on the floor for Ebube Chukwu Uzo Nnewi”.

Two years ago, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah invited me for a breakfast and said:

“Looking at what is happening in Nnewi now, I want you to go and replace Hon. Smart Okafor in the Anambra State House of Assembly. Do not worry about the cost; your bravery is needed now in Nnewi.”

In the morning of the said election, I was in his sitting room with his cousin, Dr. Ikenna Ubah, to discuss my election. When I showed him the huge amount ndi Nnewi contributed to me for the election which can go a very long way, because it’s huge, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah stood up, looked into my eyes and said “keep the money”.

He went upstairs and brought down a “Ghana Must Go” bag full of money and said: “Ikedoji remain in this room; only go out to vote. This is my election not yours”.

After our inauguration into our elected offices, the distinguished Senator called the three candidates he produced and directed us to go and work with Governor Soludo.

The last word he said to me in the funeral of Chukwueloka was: “Hope you are gathering something in Awka? Have you started investing?”

Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah was more than a father to me, he was “a political creator and I’m his creation”.

It may take eternity for another Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah to be born in Nnewi and that is why he needs to wake up. If he fails to wake up, then God simply has a bigger assignment for him in heaven.

As I mourn with his immediate family, I join the faith of the entire Nnewi people worldwide to mourn this colossus of a son and mentor to many.

The death of Senator Doctor Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Esq. remains the biggest tragic story in my entire life.
