The 1021st Ritual Proclamation of the Igbo Lunar Calendar and the Celebration of the Igbo New Year, were successfully executed with pomp and pageantry in the Palace of HRM Eze Nri OBUDEGWU ONYESOH, Nrienwelani II at Nri, Anambra State on Saturday, 15th February, 2020.
The son of the His Majesty, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh, IDEVUTEAKU, presided over the proceedings, His Majesty, having travelled to the great beyond in Dec. 2017; and as per the over 1,000 years old tradition of Nri, an Interregnum of 7 years is mandatory between an outgoing and incoming Eze Nri.
Representing the Igbo nation leadership, were the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nina Nwodo, Ike Ukehe on one hand and on the other, the National Leader of Ndiozo Ndigbo, Prof. Chinweyite Eiike, accompanied by a galaxy of an entourage which included the Secretary General of Ndiozo Ndigbo, Prof. Ike Oluka, Ohamadike.
