The Speaker of the Anambra State Youth Parliament, Rt Hon Tochukwu Nwosu has bemoaned the latest eviction ultimatum issued to the Igbos residing in the northern parts of Nigeria.

Rt Hon Nwosu made the lamentation in a statement made available to Elombah.com on Thursday.

He  described the call as the ‘last straw that broke the Carmel’s back’ and asked the Igbos to rise up to the occasion.

He said: “The recent so-called quit notice given to Igbos by several groups of Northern youths to leave Northern Nigeria is the last straw. The Carmel’s back has broken.”

He recalled incidences when the Igbos “watched the senseless slaughter of Igbos in Northern Nigeria over the years”.

He, therefore, declared that “we cannot continue to tolerate unwarranted threats to our people anywhere they are in Nigeria especially in the Northern Nigeria.”

Hon Nwosu regretted what he termed halfhearted and theatrical condemnations from a few Northern leaders,” and said: “This is not enough.

“The government of Nigeria should immediately arrest all those who signed these ‘quit notices’ and all those behind them.

“The government has been quick in the past in arresting the likes of Nnamdi Kanu for championing the liberation of his people nonviolently while his supporters have been mowed down senselessly in cold blood,” he noted.

Finally he said that the “Northern youths ultimatum is a wakeup call for Igbo leaders and people all over the world.

“It is time to take our destiny into our hands and take drastic steps to liberate our people.

“Like I have done often in the past, I call on all Igbo political, business and religious leaders past and present, all Igbo socio political organizations etc. to as a matter of extreme urgency convoke an immediate meeting for the purpose of not just discussing this Northern youths threat but once and for all taking the stand to officially start the processes of liberating our people.

“We cannot start blowing grammar again and let another round of bloodletting to begin.

“Time is of the essence and delay is now very dangerous. God bless and keep us all.”
