I’m alive — Ebenezer Obey dismisses death rumours

Veteran musician Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi has refuted rumours about his death, assuring the public that he is alive, healthy, and in good spirits.

In a video released on Tuesday morning, Obey-Fabiyi responded to the false reports with an energetic musical performance.

Singing in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, he declared the news untrue.

“Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi,” he sang. “Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk.”

He went on to say: “The fake news started a few hours ago, claiming I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on. It’s not true. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”

The death rumour began trending on Monday, leading to widespread panic and condolence messages from fans.

However, his personal assistant, Tope Olukole, immediately addressed the situation during an interview with TVC, dismissing the report as false and assuring the public that the music icon is doing well.

“Let’s be clear — Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi is alive and doing great!” Olukole said. “He even recently celebrated the 50th birthday of his second child’s spouse. There is no truth to the rumours.”
