I’m sad about trial of CJN, NBA President — Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has expressed sadness over trial of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen and National President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) , Paul Usoro.

Onnoghen is currently facing trial at Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over false asset declaration while Paul Usoro is under trial by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Osibanjo made his position known at the Conference organised by Online Publishers Association of Nigeria (OPAN) held in Abuja.

According to him, Mr President did known about Onnogehen trial at CCT until Saturday evening, because there is specific instruction that nobody should interfere with any process, the man at CCT is completely new. I don’t feel good about it that a senior members of my profession are being tried.

On the trial of corrupt government officials, Osinbajo said that the only people that were jailed by this administration were members of All Progressive Congress (APC) who were former governors.

He added that opposition was in power for 16 years and failed to take necessary step on corruption.
