Imo Govt cracks down on illegal revenue collectors

The Imo State Government, under Governor Hope Uzodinma’s leadership, has cracked down on illegal revenue collectors operating in the state.

The officials, who were arrested, were found to be extorting money from residents and businesses under the guise of collecting revenue for the government.

The Imo State Government’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and security agencies conducted a sting operation to apprehend the illegal revenue collectors.

The operation was aimed at curbing the menace of unauthorized revenue collection, which has been a major challenge for residents and businesses in the state.

The arrest of the illegal revenue collectors has brought relief to residents and businesses in Imo State.

Many had been subjected to harassment and extortion by these individuals, who often demanded payment without issuing official receipts or providing any form of documentation .

The Imo State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that revenue collection is done in a transparent and accountable manner.

The government has urged residents and businesses to report any attempts by unauthorized individuals to collect revenue, promising to take swift action against such individuals.

To prevent future occurrences, the Imo State Government has established a hotline for reporting illegal revenue collectors.

Increased security presence at revenue collection points, verified the authenticity of revenue collectors and their identification.

Warned against engaging with unauthorized collectors.

The government’s efforts to curb illegal revenue collection are seen as a step in the right direction.

It aimed at promoting a more business-friendly environment and reducing the burden on residents and businesses.
