Imo Govt hails Nigerian Police as 1,867 Imolites scale recruitment screening

Imo State Government has hailed the Nigerian Police following the qualification of 1,867 indigenes of the state during the police recruitment screening, after 2,687 people applied.

This was contained in a report on the recently conducted screening exercise for 2022 General/ Special Duty Nigerian Police Constables by the Imo State Government representative to the ad hoc panel, former State Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji.

The report was put together in collaboration with the Imo State Command Police PRO, ASP Henry Okoye, on the above referenced assignment.

Dr. Ugorji and ASP Okoye stated as follows:

1. That the “Adhoc Panel Members” for the 2022 recruitment exercise in Imo State started the exercise as scheduled.

The members of the panel were drawn from the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Police Service Commission, Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission and Police Trust Fund.

The then Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs, Imo State, Dr. Ugorji, represented the Imo State government throughout the exercise.

2. The panel started work on January 8, 2024 and concluded the exercise on January 29, 2024. It was a hitch free and successful exercise.

3. The total number of candidates that were presented for this exercise in Imo State was two thousand, six hundred and eight seven (2,687), out which one thousand, eight hundred and sixty seven (1,867) ultimately went through the screening exercise proper.

The breakdown of the above-mentioned figure is in three categories:

i. Category ‘A’ is General Duty – One Thousand Four Hundred and Ninety-Two (1492)
ii. Category ‘B’ is Specialist – Three Hundred and Forty Three ( 343).
iii. Category ‘C’ (Not recommended) – Thirty (32).

According to Ugorji, all the departments and panelists involved in the exercise worked harmoniously.

The team expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for the opportunity to be part of this important National Assignment.

It also the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Department of Training & Development (DTD) for providing the necessary environment that led to the successful conclusion of the exercise.

The team finally thanked His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, for providing both the logistics support and morale boost which his government brought to the exercise.
