Imo Police conducts intensive Musketry training for personnel

The Imo State Police Command recently conducted an intensive musketry refresher training for 200 personnel drawn from tactical units and divisions across the state.

The training, held at the Command Headquarters in Owerri, focused on improving firearms handling, strengthening weapon safety, and enforcing operational discipline.

The training covered tactical shooting techniques, close-quarter drills, and judgment-based use-of-force scenarios to enhance the competence and readiness of personnel.

Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesman stated in a release on 17th June 2025.

Participants were taught rifle assembly and disassembly, as well as justification for the use of firearms in line with Force Order 237.

The training emphasized the importance of responsible firearms handling, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reiterating that there is no such thing as accidental discharge in the Nigeria Police Force.

The training aimed to improve the skills and knowledge of personnel in firearms handling and operational procedures.

The training was attended by senior officers, including DCP Hammajoda Barka, ACP Michael Abattam, and ACP Linus Nwaiwu, among others.
