An Indian steel company, EASTERN METAL LIMITED has sacked its staff without recourse to due process.

Cover picture shows Miinster of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Chris Ngige in company of Nigeria Labour Congress [NLC]

This was contained in an SOS obtained from one of the sacked workers who wrote in anonymity.

The writer said that the Nigerian workers were sacked by the company, without due process.

The process, according to the writer, includes: severance package, outstanding arrears and many more.

The SOS reads:

“Good evening sir/ who is reading

“I wish the government to urgently come to the rescue of me and my Nigerian colleagues who were sacked by an Indian steel company, without due process: severance package, outstanding arrears and many more.

“Organised Labour who are supposed to protect us as Nigerian took sides with Indians to do this.

“Some have lost hope, but I believe in no corruption stand of our president.

“Please treat as urgent. Eastern metal limited is the company name located in Asaba, Delta State.”

We, therefore, use this medium to admonish the Nigeria Labour Congress [NLC] to live up to its task and come to the aid of these victims.
