The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that elections will be conducted across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement posted on official X handle of the commission on Wednesday.
The statement reads, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct elections in all six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday, February 21, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m., across all polling units in the FCT.”
The Commission also outlined important guidelines for the election as follows:
1. Only registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be allowed to vote.
2. Voting will take place at polling units where voters are registered.
3. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for voter verification.
4. No PVC, no voting.
