Officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been charged to be more professional in their conduct.

Mr. David Bille, Anambra State Commandant, NSCDC, gave the advice during the decorations of 157 newly promoted officers and men of his command on Monday in Awka.

Bille said given the rising incidences of attacks on security agencies in the Anambra and other states of the southeast, operatives of the corps must be careful and more professional.

“You must beware of the activities of gunmen and other bad eggs, do not show off with your rifles and uniforms this time, endeavour to watch yourselves because of several land mines in the entire zone”, he said.

Bille told his men not see anyone as brother or sister in matters that has to do with their safety as NSCDC personnel.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, Bille charged them to be more dutiful saying that their new positions require higher responsibilities from them.

Mr. Steve Ikeoha, Deputy Commandant, NSCDC, Anambra, said that out of the 157 personnel promoted in the year 2020 batch, nine were moved from assistant corps commandant to deputy corps commandant.

He said that 19 personnel moved to assistant corps commandant, and then moved to chief superintendent of corps among others.

Mr. Barnabas Ejiofor, promoted to deputy corps commandant, who responded on behalf of others, thanked the management of the NSCDC for the confidence in them and promised they would perform better.

Mr. Edwin Okadigbo, the command’s Public Relations Officer, among the newly promoted officers, said that the increasing challenges of insecurity in the area called for closer collaboration between the masses and security personnel.
