Israel shuts global embassies after attack on Iran nuclear sites

Israeli embassies around the world have been ordered to shut immediately, with no timeline for reopening.

According to reports, this move follows Israel’s announcement that it struck Iran’s nuclear facilities and missile production centers.

“In light of recent developments, Israeli missions around the world will be closed and consular services will not be provided,” the foreign ministry said.

Officials gave no exact details or reopening date.

The Israeli foreign ministry has not responded to requests for clarification.

Security measures have surged at Jewish and Israeli sites across Europe.

Germany confirmed it is reinforcing protections at all Jewish institutions and diplomatic locations.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz revealed he spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, June 13.

The Israeli embassy in Berlin appeared deserted apart from stationed police and parked patrol vehicles.

In Sweden, the Great Synagogue of Stockholm saw heightened security.

A Reuters witness reported a police van and patrol car guarding the religious site.

Tensions soared globally after Israel admitted to bombing Iranian nuclear infrastructure and killing senior Iranian military figures.

Israeli officials claim the operation is part of a prolonged campaign to halt Iran’s path to nuclear weapons.

In Washington, former U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Iran for provoking the attacks.

He said Iran “brought this on itself” by refusing to accept U.S. demands during nuclear negotiations.

Trump warned of more brutal strikes unless Tehran yields.

“Make a deal,” Trump advised, “or the next attacks will be even more brutal.”

Following the embassy closures, Israelis abroad were urged to submit their locations through a foreign ministry portal.

Israel made a similar request after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks to coordinate the return of reservists.

The new crisis has sparked fear of expanded conflict in the Middle East and possible global reprisals.

There is growing concern among Western allies that the situation could spiral into regional war.

Some diplomatic sources fear Israeli sites and nationals abroad may become targets for retaliatory attacks.

No country has yet reported incidents directly tied to the embassy closures.

However, several governments, including France and the UK, have urged their citizens to exercise caution.

The Israeli government continues to issue no public briefings about the full scope of the Iranian operations.

Iran has not officially confirmed the extent of damage or losses from the reported airstrikes.

Meanwhile, multiple intelligence sources believe more Israeli operations could follow within days.
