Israeli border police capture West Bank terror suspect alive

(DDM) – Israeli Border Police have arrested a wanted terror suspect in the Palestinian town of al-Khader, near Bethlehem, in an overnight operation carried out without a single shot fired.

DDM gathered that the arrest, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, followed actionable intelligence provided by the Shin Bet security agency.

According to officials, the suspect was allegedly involved in a series of recent terror activities targeting Israeli security forces in the Bethlehem area.

“We tracked him to the fourth floor and took him alive without a shot fired,” a Border Police spokesperson said, stressing that the mission was designed to minimise harm to both officers and civilians.

The man was located inside a multi-story residential building. Undercover units swiftly surrounded the property before making entry and securing the arrest.

Residents of al-Khader reported seeing unmarked vehicles and plainclothes operatives arriving before dawn. Within minutes, the suspect was apprehended and transferred to Shin Bet headquarters for interrogation.

While Israeli authorities have not released his identity, they confirmed that the man is linked to several incidents in the West Bank involving violent clashes with security personnel.

Officials said the suspect’s capture is part of a broader escalation in security operations across the territory.

The West Bank has been a flashpoint of Israeli-Palestinian tensions for decades, with periodic spikes in violence often tied to political developments, settlement expansions, and ongoing hostilities in Gaza.

Israel’s war, now in its 676th day, has intensified security measures in contested areas, with the Shin Bet reporting a recent surge in intelligence pointing to planned attacks.

In recent weeks, Israeli forces have carried out a series of targeted arrests in towns across the West Bank, crediting close coordination between intelligence services and field units for their effectiveness.

The arrest in al-Khader was notable for its lack of casualties, in contrast to other recent operations that have sparked clashes and fatalities.

Authorities indicated that the suspect will be interrogated to determine his role in previous attacks and to assess whether he was preparing further operations.

Depending on the findings, he may be prosecuted in a military court, a common practice for Palestinians accused of security offenses in the West Bank.

The Shin Bet has reiterated its commitment to pre-emptive action, stating that such arrests are critical to preventing attacks before they occur.

The incident also underscores Israel’s strategy of combining intelligence-led policing with rapid tactical operations to limit escalation while achieving its security objectives.
