An Israeli airstrike has killed two Palestinians, including a three-year-old boy, in central Gaza, according to health officials.
The strike occurred near a bakery in Deir Al-Balah on Sunday, killing Hussam Nusair and three-year-old Tayyem Hamdan, Gaza medics said. Several other people were also wounded.
The Israeli military said the strike targeted and killed a Hamas militant, identified as Nusair, whom it accused of advancing attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.
Hamas has not immediately commented on the allegation.
The latest attack comes despite a US-backed ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 and halted major fighting across the devastated Gaza Strip.
However, the ceasefire has failed to stop Israeli military strikes, which Israel says are aimed at preventing attacks by Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza.
Hamas has accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire and frustrating efforts to implement a broader plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict.
The plan includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas.
According to Gaza health officials, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since the ceasefire took effect last October.
The Israeli military, however, said four of its soldiers have been killed during the same period.
The latest deaths add to the growing toll in Gaza as efforts to sustain the ceasefire and implement a broader political settlement remain uncertain.
