A student of Queens Convent, Awka, Anambra State, has set a new record in the 2025 UTME resit.

Obiora-Nwokedi Nmesoma scored an impressive 343 in the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, DDM reports.

Her school, an Anglican Church-owned institution, is celebrating the landmark academic feat.

Nmesoma was among students affected by the controversial 2025 UTME technical glitch.

She was initially given 165 as her score in the first UTME result released by JAMB.

The score sparked doubts, as Nmesoma was known for her academic brilliance.

JAMB later admitted the score was a result of technical errors during the examination.

Distress Among Students

The exam glitch affected many students across the country, triggering anger and confusion.

Some students reportedly experienced psychological trauma due to the unexpected low scores.

A tragic case of suicide was linked to the incident, raising further concerns about the system.

Despite the ordeal, Nmesoma chose not to give up on her dreams.

Encouraged by her school and teachers, she opted to sit for the rescheduled UTME.

She approached the resit with fresh determination and came out with flying colours.

School Praises Brilliance

Speaking to our correspondent, the principal of Queens Convent, Dr. Martha Ibezim, praised the outstanding result.

She described Nmesoma as a determined and focused student with a bright future.

Dr. Ibezim said the student’s resilience was a reflection of the school’s strong academic culture.

“Our school believes in holistic education and academic discipline,” she said.

She also thanked the teachers who supported Nmesoma during the tough period.

According to her, their encouragement gave the student the courage to face the resit boldly.

Nmesoma is now being seen as a symbol of resilience and hope for other Nigerian students.

Her success has been widely praised within the school and beyond.

Students and staff gathered to celebrate her after the new result was released.

Education And Support Matter

Dr. Ibezim also called for better investment in Nigeria’s education system.

She stressed the importance of student support, especially during national examinations.

She said cases like Nmesoma’s show that many Nigerian students have great potential.

“With the right environment, our students can compete globally,” she said.

She encouraged government agencies to improve examination systems to prevent future errors.

A Beacon Of Excellence

Nmesoma’s 343 score has cemented her place as one of the brightest students in her school.

Her journey from a flawed result to national recognition has inspired many.

Queens Convent continues to stand as a beacon of academic and moral excellence in Anambra State.
